Superyacht regatta for Hamilton Island
Bob Oatley, the owner of the supermaxi Wild Oats XI, has confirmed that he is to establish an annual international superyacht regatta at Hamilton Island, on Australia's Great Barrier Reef. "The success of the superyacht racing in Palma left me in no doubt that we need to bring the concept to Australia, and Hamilton Island is the perfect venue," Bob Oatley said "Our long-term aim is to have an impressive fleet of these huge yachts, power and sail, visiting Hamilton Island for our regatta and then cruising through Australian waters."


Sydney International Boat Show stronger than ever
More than 330 exhibitors packed the six halls of the Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre and record number of luxury craft, power and sail, made their home on the specially built marina in Cockle Bay for the 40th Sydney International Boat Show (SIBS), held on 2 – 10 August. As usual, many chose the Sydney International Boat Show to unveil new models for the first time, with Maritimo's spectacular 550 sportfishing battlewagon and Riviera 's 4700 Sport Yacht (recently named Australia's Boat of the Year ) . Attendance was in excess of 90.000.


New models lead record sales for Riviera at SIBS
Australia's largest luxury boat builder, Riviera, is celebrating record sales of 42 boats, valued at more than $53 million, at the annual Sydney International Boat Show. The new model Riviera 4400 Sport Yacht and 47 Enclosed Flybridge models led the sales success . The company also announced the sale of five Princess motor yachts as well as very strong interest in Grand Banks boats.


Maritimo appoints Italian dealer

Prominent Italian marine brokerage, Elite Marine, has been appointed to represent Gold Coast yard Maritimo. Headed by expatriate American Bruce Qvale, Elite Marine is based at Rapallo, not far from the Italian port of Genoa. The appointment of Elite Marine confirms Maritimo's plans to expand its network, with dealers now in place across nine US States, New Zealand and the Middle East.
